EMPOWER#IoT: Advancing Autonomous Solar-Powered Sensors for Smart Cities

The STELORG consortium is contributing to EMPOWER#IoT, a new Interreg Upper Rhine 2026 project dedicated to the development of autonomous solar-powered sensors for smarter and more sustainable cities.

The STELORG consortium is pleased to announce its participation to EMPOWER#IoT, an innovative Interreg Upper Rhine 2026 project led by Markus Kohlstädt (Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg), with STELORG partners Thomas Heiser, Patrick Lévêque and Yaochen Lin (ICUBE).

This trinational initiative brings together partners from France, Germany and Switzerland to develop a new generation of autonomous, solar-powered sensors for smart cities. Designed to operate even in low-light conditions, these devices aim to replace battery-powered and wired systems, reducing installation costs, maintenance, and electronic waste.

By enabling reliable and cost-effective urban data collection, EMPOWER#IoT will contribute to more sustainable, efficient, and environmentally friendly cities.
